KENYA BURNS

This afternoon, i saw a very sick video about my motherland, this beautiful, expanse of land teeming with diversity, promise and wildlife- called Kenya.

How did we stoop so low? I have witnessed instances of mob injustice before, when a suspected thief, was cornered and murdered or lynched. I used to wonder why.

Next door is Rwanda......a place where all devils descended that April 1994. A place that should remind us of potential for humans dehumanizing themselves when they pick on the innocent , defenseless, and the weak. WHO ARE WE? Why are the poor becoming violent pawns in a game they are not part of?

I read newspaper accounts of that hell in Eldoret. I read of the 3 year old girl who ran out of the smoldering ruins of this HELL and got tossed back into the flames of tribal hell.

What has Kenya turned into? I have always known our uneasy calm was delicate and the fabric of this calm held together by political strings. But when did this fabric FRAY to this level?.

Kibaki, the buck stops with you. And the Electoral Commission Chairman, the coward who annointed you against the peoples wishes.

You are a disgrace to democracy and humanity. May be one day you will be tried for crimes against humanity. Until then, i hope and pray for the souls of all the dead, injured and displaced Kenyans.
